One of our longest-serving volunteers, Carole Clements, is sadly leaving DHI after nearly 15 years.
Carole joined DHI as a volunteer counsellor in 2007 as part of her training placement, but decided to continue volunteering with us. Carole also ran a weekly mindfulness group for DHI clients in Bath for several years.
DHI Clinical Supervisor & Associate Trainer, Phil Johnston-Smith, explains the impact Carole’s work has had: “Carole has brought a blend of empathic compassion and effective professional counselling abilities to support hundreds of DHI clients to make positive changes in their lives. Her passion to help others remains undimmed and Carole’s calm, grounded approach has been much valued by myself, clients and staff alike.
“The BANES counselling team comprises of eight counsellors and Carole’s long service has really helped to create a solidity to the team which has inspired many other student placement counsellors to continue volunteering after the completion of their studies.”
Carole said: “I have valued the opportunity to make a contribution to DHI over the years and commend the worthwhile work undertaken by DHI to support clients. I will miss working with colleagues and clients, and I appreciate the valuable learning and sense of community I have experienced here.”
