A free health and wellbeing event for people who are homeless, in unsuitable housing, or have a drug or alcohol problem and may struggle with healthcare issues takes place at the charity Developing Health and Independence’s (DHI) Treatment Centre at 14 St. James’s Parade in Bath on Tuesday 16th August from 10am – 4pm.
The event will offer a wide-range of health, wellbeing, housing and financial advice and information along with wellbeing checks, NHS health checks (for those who are eligible), blood borne virus testing, sexual health advice, overdose awareness training and a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Friendly staff from DHI, HCRG and the NHS will be on hand through the day to talk to people and offer advice and practical help.
The event is being run by DHI in partnership with Bath & North East Somerset Council, HCRG and Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board.
Councillor Dine Romero, cabinet member for Children and Young People, and Communities, said: “People with issues linked to homelessness, alcohol, or drug use can face significant barriers to accessing healthcare. This event will provide a safe and welcoming space for people to speak to a trusted individual and get helpful advice and information on a wide range of health and wellbeing issues.”
Rosie Phillips, DHI CEO, said: “As inequality grows at an increasingly fast pace, now more than ever it is vitally important to ensure we provide practical support, help and advice to those who need it most.”
