DHI to receive donation from sale of work by legendary artist Banksy

DHI is set to receive a proportion of the proceeds of the sale of a unique mural by legendary Bristol-based artist, Banksy.

A unique mural titled ‘Refugees’ by Banksy is to be given away as part of the sale of a new Non Fungible Token (NFT) edition of Banksy’s famous ‘Gorilla in a Pink Mask’ which first appeared on the wall of the former North Bristol Social Club in Eastville, Bristol. 'Refugees' appeared on a wall in Glasgow in 2001.

The Non Fungible Token, which is being offered by Exposed Walls, a company that specialises in the renovation of street art will be sold in an edition of 10,000 and be available for purchase from early 2022. Once the NFT’s are sold out, one of the owners will be selected randomly and awarded ‘Refugees’. The owner will be offered the option of a one-off NFT or to take possession of the physical object.

Exposed Walls is asking people register their interest on a website dedicated to the sale. It plans to offer a series of other works by Banksy as NFT’s in the near future.

A proportion of the proceeds of the sale will be donated to DHI due to the charity’s work with vulnerable groups in the Bristol area. DHI were selected as one of two charities to receive a donation along with The Gorilla Organization.
