DHI Announces 2025 Reach Out Event to Support Families Affected by Drug or Alcohol Use

DHI Is hosting Reach Out, its annual families and carers conference on 12 June 2025, bringing together families and loved ones affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use.

For every person struggling with substance misuse, at least five others are impacted. Many feel isolated and unsupported due to the stigma surrounding addiction. Reach Out provides a space for people with shared experiences to connect, offering support, community, and hope.

“We’ve heard stories from people who have lost loved ones. There are many others who have experience of losing people to addiction,” said Paul, former service user and now DHI Peer. “Identifying with others who have had these negative experiences – something positive might come of it. How to navigate that experience is so important.”

The event will offer a safe and inclusive environment to share experiences, hear inspiring stories of resilience, and learn practical coping strategies.
